OVERVIEW

Ghorepani poon hill trek is the easily accessible and most popular trekking to experience the Himalayas view in Nepal. It is also known as Annapurna foot hill trek. The stunning mountain scenery, unique culture and ethnic village may provide an amazing experience for trekkers.  This trek is suitable for all kinds of travelers from beginner, family, school, kids, corporate people as well. People can experience the stunning sunrise over Himalayas like Mt. Annapurna 8,091m, Mt. Dhaulagiri 8,167m, Nilgiris 6,230 m, Mt. Machhapuchhre 6,997 m, Mt. Himchuli 6441m without any hassle of altitude sickness.  Traditional Vilaages of Gurung and Thakali with stone slated roof top and stone steps int his region show the typical tradition and cultural lifestyle of Nepalese people. Beautiful waterfalls and alpine forest of rhododendron, pines, oaks tress adds more charm in this trail for trekkers.

DETAILED ITINERARY

  • Day 01:  Arrive in Kathmandu                                               

    Upon arrival in Katmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, meet, assist and transfer to hotel. After welcome refreshments and room check in the hotel, there will be a short briefing and orientation about the trek

    Eve: Trip briefing followed by welcome dinner at Authentic Nepali restaurant with culture program.

    Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 02:  Drive to Pokhara en-route White Water Rafting Trishuli River (6 hrs.)

    Am: After breakfast check out from hotel and start scenic drive to Pokhara via Prithivi Highway. En-route stops in Charaudi for white water rafting. There will be a safety briefing and demonstration related with the Rafting. After short briefing commence 3~4 hours white water rafting in the Trishuli River. Initially we begin with small rapids and soon catch the bigger one.

    Pm: After lunch in the river start 3 hrs, scenic drive to Pokhara – which is a picturesque valley (827m) lying on the laps of the mighty Annapurna Himalayan Range with numerous beautiful lakes and lush green surroundings.

    Eve: Walk around the colorful lakeside bazaar and dine at a nice restaurant.

  • Day 03: Drive to Nayapul – 1 & ½ hrs & start trek to Ghandrung (1951m) – 6 hrs

    Am: After breakfast, drive to Nayapul (trek starting point) and start trek to Ghandrung (1951m), which is the second largest Gurung village in Nepal and is a confusing cluster of closely-spaced, slate-roofed houses. Initially trek down to the river for about 10 minutes and cross the new suspension bridge, thus named as Nayapul (New bridge). After crossing the bridge, there is a check post where the ACAP Park entry permit must be purchased prior to starting the trek. Walk further through more terraced fields and bamboo groves on a gentle ascent along hillside and arrive at a riverbed. After about 20 minutes, arrive at the settlement of Shauli Bazaar, which is located along the banks of the Modi River for lunch.

    Pm: After lunch, continue trek to Ghandrung village the trail from here continues to climb steadily for about 2 hours until we arrive at a gate with a signboard saying, “Welcome to Ghandrung”.

  • Day 04: Trek to Tadapani (2630m) – 6 hours.

    After breakfast, trek up to Tadapani (2630m) - a small settlement consisting of about 5-6 Tea Houses with camping grounds set among rhododendron forests with chirping birds and a stream nearby. During the trek look out for some rare birds and pheasants as well as the Langur and Rhesus monkeys. The last forty-five minutes of walking is through a superb forest of giant rhododendrons to reach Tadapani or literally ‘far from the water’, situated at an altitude of 2630 meters.

  • Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (2926m) – 6 hours.

    The trail descends from the Village Square and shopping area and then ascends forests and open landscape to arrival at a small village. Continue to climb steadily amidst chirping birds on treetops to arrive at Banthanti, means ‘jungle shelter’ located near a river. There is a further climb to arrive at our lunch spot at Deorali (3180m). After lunch, continue through a dense forest. The trail is a gently undulating one having reached our highest point. After about 1 & ½ hour of trekking through the rhododendron forests along the ridge line, arrive at a clearing to get views of the Annapurna South and the Ghorepani village far down below. Descend for 30 minutes to approach the main gate to Ghorepani with a big signboard welcoming trekkers to this village. It is an interesting walk as we pass through this densely populated village of a different ethnic community of Magars.

  • Day 06: Hike to Poon Hill and descent down Ulleri – 6 hours.

    Pre-dawn alert and trek up to the Poon Hill (3200m) to view a magnificent sunrise over the Annapurna Range. The views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range are truly magnificent from Poon Hill.  Shortly afterwards, return back to Ghorepani for breakfast. After breakfast, start trek by going through a subtropical forest and reach the village, Nayathanti (2450m). Continue trek for about one hour to reach Banthanti, from where the forest disappears and seems to be replaced by terraced cultivations that is spread to the village of Ulleri, about thirty minutes away.

  • Day 07: Trek to Nayapul – 5 hours and Drive to Pokhara.

    After breakfast start trek to Nayapul. Climb down a flight of steps for about two hours to reach Hille (1524) from where the descent starts to become easier as one proceeds to Birethanti (1037m). Stop for lunch here. After lunch trek for about half an hour along the banks of the Modi Khola to reach Nayapul. End trek in Nayapul, meet the waiting vehicle and drive to Pokhara for one and a half hour. Upon arrival, check in hotel at hotel. In the late afternoon, go on a boatride on Lake Phewa (Time permitting).

    Eve:  Free for most deserved Rest.

  • Day 08: Sightseeing tour of Pokhara City.

    After breakfast proceed for a sightseeing tour of Pokhara - which is situated 200 kms west from Kathmandu, is an enchanting city nestled in the tranquil valley (827m) on the laps of the mighty Annapurna Himalayan Range. With its beautiful lakes, lush green surroundings and fantastic views of the Annapurna range including the Fish Tail Mountain; it is considered one of nature’s finest gifts to Nepal.

    The tour includes the visit of Bindabasini Temple, the Seti Gorge, Davis Fall, Gopteswor Mahadev Cave. After sightseeing tour transfer to lakeside for lunch. Rest of the day is free for shopping and personal activities.

    Eve:  Sunset boat ride at Phewa Lake.

    Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 09:  Fly to Kathmandu and Sightseeing tour.

    After breakfast transfer to Pokhara domestic Airport, to board the 25 minute flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu proceed for a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu City. It includes visit to the Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu Durbar Square) - an ancient durbar (palace) with its numerous old palaces, temples and pagodas, the Temple of Living Goddess “Kumari”, and the Kasthamandap Temple, which is believed to be constructed from the wood of a single tree from which Kathmandu derives its name.

    In addition also visit   the Boudhanath Stupa - an ancient colossal stupa and the center of Tibetan Buddhism in the world and the Pashupatinath Temple- the Temple of Lord Shiva situated on the bank of the holy Bagmati River.

    Pm: After lunch drive up to the Swayambhunath Stupa situated atop a hill from where you could get a bird’s eye view of Kathmandu Valley. The Swayambhunath Stupa is also known as the “Monkey Temple”!!       

    Eve: Group farewell dinner at nice restaurant in Thamel.

  • Day 10: Final departure from Nepal.                                           

    Check out from the hotel and meet Himalayan Holidays representative and transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu for final departure.
